Awful experience with Richard and SDB. Richard the business owner is uncooperative, obstructive, rude, aggressive and dishonest, whilst his fitters are incompetent and clearly under the influence. Richard agreed to replace the four front windows to our property that he fitted. He has paid the deposit to the manufacturer but is now refusing to make the final payment to have the windows delivered. He has admitted his business is currently suffering a downturn. On this note it would be highly risky to use Richard and SDB for any new work as he’s likely to go insolvent soon. In summary we are still waiting over 3 years for Richard to rectify all the problems. - 8 windows installed are incorrectly sized, quality is very poor when compared to existing Everest windows (stiff to open, panels rub on frame, handles wobble). - 4 front upstairs windows leak during/after rainfall or after the window cleaner has visited. SDB’s attempt to fix this using thicker rubber seals has made it worse - Windows let in more water and sound proofing is now non-existent. - Defective external rubber seals. Richard attempted a bodge job to fix this using sealent ! - Handles have fallen off and internal glass panel exploded in kids playroom. - Poorly fitted leading to condensation and damp problems It has always been our priority to support local companies and businesses but please avoid this one. Richard has strung us along for so long, it is in complete desperation I write this review, and this is coming from a repeat customer who has used SDB for two large Schuco bifold doors at the same property. Our calls and emails have been routinely ignored.

Richard McNee is a con artist who belongs in prison. The sooner SDB are put into administration the better. the public need to be protected from this fraudster. I am still waiting for replacement windows to be fitted 3 years after SDB supplied and fitted windows that are of terrible quality and leak.

PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU PAY A DEPOSIT TO RICHARD/ SDB. We paid a deposit (£ thousands) to SDB in April 2023 for the installation of bifold doors. At the time Richard offered installation in June. Since then Richard has proved very difficult to get hold of, when he does respond it's always in the form of "I'll reply this evening" but then we don't hear from him for weeks despite repeated chasing, and at the start of September we asked for our deposit to be refunded. The only response we received was a typical "All received I will reply today", and of course I have heard nothing. SDB installed other windows/ doors for us a few years ago with no issues - we were happy with the work. But something is wrong at SDB and we are now having to progress a claim for the refund of our deposit through the small claims court. My strong advice is to look elsewhere or be prepared to lose your deposit. UPDATE: Since posting this review, other SDB customers have been in touch with me to share similar stories. Be careful.

30Oct2022 *Third video review is up now* and a County Court Judgement has been issued against SDB Aluminium Glazing in my favour. We had a contract with Richard and SDB Aluminium glazing to install all new flush casement windows and doors in our house, Including a Dutemann front door and Schuco Bifold door. From the start in Oct 2021, the install was a mess with the fitters damaging both the frames and scratching the glass. A lot of the frames and glazing for them were measured and ordered incorrectly, with brick courses having to be removed to fit windows and glazing having to be reordered. After paying out £23K of a 37K invoice to SDB, Richard has walked away and left us with poorly manufactured windows, damaged and broken glass left in, a back door that's hinge bound so doesn't shut correctly and leaks. Two large windows not replaced one of which is still boarded up 9 months later. The Schuco bifold has been incorrectly installed and was ordered two large for the aperture meaning there's no adjustment for the locks so doesn't work correctly, Schuco have confirmed its not a genuine Schuco door as its not assembled with the complete Schuco system. We have tried contacting SDB and even offered arbitrary mediation but he just doesn't respond. We are now at the point of taking him to court and cant believe a company could operate like this. My house has been like this for the last 10 months.

Contracted with Richard at SDB ( they were recommended to me by a friend ) to replace timber-frame French windows with bifold doors. The quoted price was very good , Richard was very professional and attentive throughout the whole process. Bifold doors were fitted by Kevin who did a fantastic job , his experience and attention to detail was most impressive. Richard came to see how the installation was progressing, a couple of minor hiccups with the installation were dealt with there and then, nothing was too much trouble. The doors look great . If you’re looking for bifold doors, I’d gladly recommend Richard and SDB ( and put in a request for Kevin to be your installer too ! ) .

We were very impressed with the Dutemann bi-fold doors we saw in the SDB showroom. We had concerns on how they would fit into the structure of our 1970's timber framed bungalow. Richard McNee was very understanding and I thought he took my worries seriously. He subsequently visited our home and took the trouble to examine our house and address my concerns. We agreed to go ahead with three sets of bi-fold doors and re-glazing the existing windows which Richard suggested as the most economical and suitable option. The installation process went smoothly and the doors and glazing were fitted three weeks before the specified date. The installation took four days, the fitters were polite, considerate and tidy. We are delighted with our new doors and glazing - the transformation has been incredible. We would recommend Richard and company.

We were keen to get doors and bi folds from Richard as they were a nice spec. Unfortunately he was rude from the off set. He never gave quotes when promised. We were offered call backs and quotes by end of business the next day but we were never called. When showing him photos of our building work he was rude about the project. After alot of hard work and us calling in he finally emailed a quote asked and then challenged why I would pick him as our supplier? I was still happy to go ahead and cancelled all other plans with other suppliers. He promised a site visit that week and never got in touch. He finally emailed saying he won't do the job. By far the worst customer service I have ever experienced. It's a shame there's other reviews like this and other people have been treated the same. Let's just say Richard is a suiting name...

We had extensive work done to our house. New windows, new front door, new conservatory and two sets of bifold doors. Richard was just amazing. His knowledge of his products is such that he will advise what works best for you. The finished work is absolutely perfect both in quality and look. Nothing is ever a problem for him and he will,do his upmost to help you. The fitting team is a dream: Polite, hardworking, helpful and professional. We highly recommend SDB and would not hesitate to use them again.
